providing literature environments that reflect culture & family

Our vision for children is for them to take ownership of their reading skills, apply them to their interests and be empowered to strive and do what their heart, mind and soul desires.

about my mission

contributing to early literacy of future generations

Accomplished Literacy Learners is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that aspires to explore the existing and prospective needs of schools and communities that are at a disadvantage, It creates literacy environments that capture the interests of children and will engender an enjoyable learning experience. These environments will foster their imaginations, creativity, and forms of expression. It is only through exposure and understanding that true appreciation and respect for diversity be developed. It is imperative that students learn about diverse cultures and ways of life so that they are knowledgeable about them when they encounter them in the future.

My name is Dr. Robinson and I’m from Sacramento, California. Maryland has been my home for the past 12  years now. I absolutely love and have an ear for different kinds of music. I enjoy spending time outdoors, traveling and reading. I knew at a young age I wanted to become a teacher and have been a teacher for over 20 years now. I’ve taught at the lower elementary school level in both urban and suburban school districts across the U.S. specifically, Title I schools located in Michigan, California, Maryland and currently Washington D.C.. I received a BS degree in Elementary Education from Delaware State University, a MA degree in Education with a Reading specialist endorsement from the University of Michigan and an Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Language, Literacy and Culture Diversity from the University of the Pacific. What I recognized throughout my career is that my students did not have access to children’s literature books at home. They lacked a literacy-enriched and print oriented environment and it is my passion to give back to children who are at a disadvantage. My nonprofit organization will provide mini libraries to be placed in their homes among other resources. I will make it my life’s purpose to contribute to early literacy of future generations to come and inspire children to become lifelong learners.
